(Liberty Bell) – On Monday, the Democratic Party joined the chorus of insanity that is currently sweeping the country in regard to tearing down statues over allegations they represent racism or oppression of some sort, by tweeting out an attack on Mount Rushmore.
This particular assault on the monument comes as President Trump is planning an Independence Day event at the site.
As you might imagine, this is just more liberal hysteria from the Democratic Party looking to influence those in the Black Lives Matter movement to show up at the polls in November and vote left. It’s not likely the Democrats have any real concern for equality or the fight against racism. It’s just one big opportunity for them to politicize.
Here’s more from Breitbart:
“Trump has disrespected Native communities time and again,” the Democrats wrote on Twitter, with a link to an article in the British newspaper the Guardian, in the now-deleted tweet. “He’s attempted to limit their voting rights and blocked critical pandemic relief. Now he’s holding a rally glorifying white supremacy at Mount Rushmore–a region once sacred to tribal communities.”
The linked story from the Guardian quotes Oglala Lakota tribe member Nick Tilsen, the president of local activist group “NDN Collective,” as calling Mount Rushmore a symbol of “white supremacy.”
“Mount Rushmore is a symbol of white supremacy, of structural racism that’s still alive and well in society today,” Tilsen said, a message echoed by the Democrat Party’s formal Twitter account.
The Guardian piece goes on to note that Tilsen wants to see Mount Rushmore torn down altogether.
The push from the Democrats to target Mount Rushmore comes as leftist activists tear down monuments and statues around the country. But the move by the Democrat Party to put the iconic American mountainside monument to four great American presidents–George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln–in the crosshairs by claiming it represents “white supremacy” when it clearly does not may go too far for some voters.
Several on Twitter were quick to rip the Democrats for pushing attempts to destroy Mount Rushmore:

What the folks on the left don’t seem to understand is that history teaches us a lot about where we came from, what we need to learn in order to not repeat the mistakes of the past, and that human nature is far more complicated than simply being “good and bad.”
Lots of amazing people who have done wonderful things have also been involved in bad things or disgusting behavior or attitudes at one time or another. That’s because people are fallen creatures. We are not perfect. Our inner lives, our personalities, are a mix of good and bad. Part of our life’s journey is sorting out that particular mess and learning how to be better people.
Erasing history strips away one of the most important tools we have in that grand adventure.
Trump is set to appear on Friday at the historic landmark in South Dakota’s Black Hills. The fireworks celebration at which the president will speak is limited in crowd size to just 7,500 people, and tickets were awarded by lottery, according to South Dakota authorities.

Noem addressed it further in an interview on Fox and Friends last week, saying that this is now about a “radical rewriting of our history.”
“What my message is, is that this is no longer about equality, this is a radical rewriting of our history, and in South Dakota we won’t stand for it,” Noem said. “This is a national monument. The more we focus on the flaws of these men that are on our mountain, the less likely we are to recognize the virtues and the lessons we can learn from their lives. So that really is the message that I have for South Dakotans that love this mountain and Mount Rushmore for this country, that recognize what it represents to us, and we will do all that we can to make sure that that message is loud and clear, that we will make sure that Mount Rushmore stays as majestic as it is today.”
Here’s to hoping the American people stand up for truth and defend the right to keep our history preserved in these monuments, warts and all, so that we can understand where we came from and have a clear vision of where we want to go.
