Tucker Carlson Shreds Richard Burr Over Dumping Stock After Coronavirus Briefing; Here’s What He Says The Senator Must Do

(Liberty Bell) – Sen. Richard Burr, the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, really got himself in a pickle this week after it was revealed that he dumped a significant amount of stock after attending coronavirus briefings and singaling a warning to the Tar Heel Club about the threat posed by the potentially lethal coronavirus.

Just how much trouble is he in right now? Well, Fox News host Tucker Carlson has called on Burr to resign from office after the incident, accusing him of insider trading.

The main allegation against Burr at the moment is that he said one thing to the public, while doing another in private. He told the American people there was nothing to worry about economically and that the president and Congress were working to ensure things stayed strong, but then sold off his stock, possibly due to receiving inside information.

Here’s more from Breitbart:

“You may have seen news reports this afternoon that chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee sold more than a million dollars in stock in mid-February after learning about how devastating the Chinese coronavirus could be. He had inside information about what could happen to our country, which is now happening,” Carlson said. “But he didn’t warn the public. He didn’t give a primetime address. He didn’t go on television to sound the alarm. He didn’t even disavow an op-ed he’d written just 10 days before claiming America was “better prepared than ever for coronavirus.”

“He didn’t do any of those things,” he continued. “Instead, what did he do? He dumped his shares in hotel stocks so he wouldn’t lose money, and then he stayed silent. Maybe there is an honest explanation for what he did. If there is, he should share it with the rest of us immediately. Otherwise, he must resign from the Senate and face prosecution for insider trading. There is no greater moral crime than betraying your country in a time crisis, and that appears to be what happened.”

Just imagine knowing that a building had a bomb in it and was going to blow up and kill everyone in it and then telling authorities that everything with the building was fine and there was nothing to worry about, all the while you’re moving the stuff from your apartment out the backdoor.

That’s essentially what Burr has done here, only with economic matters. He’s abused his position to get himself further ahead and is allowing other citizens to suffer instead. It’s despicable.

Burr absolutely needs to step down immediately and issue a public apology for abusing the power the American people entrusted him with. When the people of this country elect a leader, we do so trusting the folks we put in office will act with integrity and honor.

When they violate this trust, it’s egregious and a betrayal of the people they are supposed to serve. It’s time for Burr to own up to his choices and pay the piper.

  1. These are the very people that are angering the citizens of the United States. Every one of them need to be removed from office. They need to be investigated to the fullest and when found guilty, punished to the fullest extent. We the people are tired of criminal activity by our elected officials going unchecked.
It’s been proven by the investigations into Trump that it can be done. Now, do it to the rest of them. We deserve justice.

  2. Is it time for a modern day tea party? Only instead of dumping tea in Boston Harbor, we should dump crooked politicians in the Potomac River. They won’t be hurt, garbage floats.

  3. If the law was good enough to send Martha Stewart to jail for years, then it is good enough to send a couple of crooked senators to the slammer.

  4. Burr and Feinstein must go because they are “don’t do as I do, do as I say creeps. I believe there are others in the government who talk the talk but don’t walk the walk. I believe President Trump is/was doing a great job and I expect to confront these “swamp dwellers.” If he does not he may lose my vote-MAGA.

  5. They should all be punished, but they won’t be. Look it up, they are ALLOWED to do insider trading. That’s how they all get so rich. Thomas Paine said, they would never raise a cane against themselves.

  6. Burr needs to go and so does Feinstein. Also the woman whose husband is involved in the stock exchange. I say that as someone who voted for Burr in 2016, albeit reluctantly. His opponent was another nightmare Clinton toadie.

  7. Hard to believe that Feinstein is playing the “it was my husband card”. Don’t they talk to each other? And the Republican woman whose husband runs the NYSE, I can’t believe there’s not some light leaking in around the edges of her “blind trust” blindfold. Same for any other no matter what their party. For those of us that are watching our 401-K’s and brokerage accounts tank, we deserve nothing less than to see all these insider traders punished. They weren’t elected to personally enrich themselves and too many of them do.

    • Completely agree. As a person that has worked on Wall Street for 30 years, allowing them to get away with this enables the public to doubt the integrity of the Public markets. Each of their punishments should be TWICE that of a regular white collar crime. They ALSO betrayed their Government positions and trust in the political system we have today. The DOJ MUST take care of this immediately. The American public are already nervous about the virus and the short term 32% collapse of the markets. Lack of followthrough with intentional fraud should NEVER be acceptable.

  8. I am a conservative Republican: He needs to go. We know Democrats are above the law. Republicans cannot be. Republicans need to speak up.

    Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)

  9. Gov Kemp, and now what do you have to say, she was your pick, not ours. Doug Collins, they don’t come any better. And to think she is in bed with the leader of stock market/wall street. Wow even an appearance of is wrong wrong wrong shame on you.

    • Maybe one good thing will come out of this, Doug Collins will be a senator come November. What a great man he is!!!

    • And to think, she had the audacity to send out campaign contributions to ordinary citizens of Georgia. I got one and immediately shredded it. She has millions and wanted me to contribute to her campaign. In a pig’s eye.

  10. Agreed, they all need to resign Democrats & Republicans! Can not hide behind HUSBAND handling the funds! REALLY/you don’t think information gets exchanged!!!!

  11. But if Tucker’s wrong & Burr’s innocent… remember the Dems want the Senate back & the best way is to take down the Republican in office.

  12. These elected representatives of the people are corrupt and without remorse. Power and money drive them. They pledge to serve the people, but only serve themselves. Damn them to HELL.

    • You are absolutely correct! And to add insult to injury, they are constantly asking for contributions! Chutzpah!

  13. Do not let the Democrats off who did this also, they all need to resign and be charged with the crime of inside trading as well.

    • Don, dream on you are right, but remember what Feinstein did to Kavanaugh and fact she had a Chinese spy working for her and she knew it and still leading the California lemmings. Many have sold out to china making big bucks so according to them china can do no wrong, wonderful non competitive people….
