(Liberty Bell) – Sen. Josh Hawley proved over the course of the last week that he is one of the most principled conservatives in the Senate, showing his backbone by opting to challenge the results of the Electoral College during a joint session that was held on Wednesday of this week.
The reason for the challenge is that over the course of the last several months, it’s become glaringly obvious that there is significant evidence to suggest this election was stolen from President Donald Trump through widespread voter fraud. Many lawsuits have been filed to force investigations into these allegations, but most of them have been tossed out.
Wednesday’s session was supposed to be an occasion for debate that focused on these irregularities with the hope of putting off the certification of the results to further investigate what happened.
Unfortunately, this was all interrupted due to a violent riot that broke out inside the Capitol building, allegedly carried out by angry Trump supporters, though there’s some question about whether or not the group that showed up to DC had been infiltrated by Antifa.
According to a report from WND, Simon & Schuster decided to cancel plans to publish Sen. Hawley’s forthcoming book, citing his objection to the results and the violence that occurred on Wednesday as reasons for their decision.
A report from the NY Times explained that the published said it “cannot support Senator Hawley after his role in what became a dangerous threat to our democracy and freedom.”
Hawley was the first senator to step forward and object to the slates of Electoral College votes in states where irregularities and fraud would have been sufficient enough to alter the outcome of the election.
“This could not be more Orwellian,” Hawley posted on Twitter. “Simon & Schuster canceling my contract because I was representing my constituents, leading a debate on the Senate floor on voter integrity, which they have not decided to redefine as sedition.
“Let me be clear, this is not just a contract dispute,” he added. “It’s a direct assault on the First Amendment.”
“This is the Left looking to cancel everyone they don’t approve of,” Hawley stated. “I will fight this cancel culture with everything I have. We’ll see you in court.”
Hawley is absolutely right.
Simon & Schuster is essentially trying to control the narrative, ensuring that it’s one that matches up well with the story being pushed by the radical leftist media. They are attempting to silence the voice of conservatives. Sen. Hawley only stood up for what he believed to be true. He sought to protect the integrity of our election system.
Nothing he said or did incited riots and violence. He is not responsible for the actions of any individuals.
Here’s to hoping his court case turns out to be a victory for the First Amendment.
