Massive Increase In Gun Violence In NYC Amid Calls To Defund Police…The Numbers Will Scare You

(Liberty Bell) – What do people think will happen as police departments are increasingly denigrated by leadership who’d rather kowtow to the unrealistic demands of far-left protesters than they would back the people who put their lives on the line to keep their communities safe?

Since June of 2019, gun violence in de Blasio’s New York City are up by 358% as police continue to be stripped of resources and subject to increased animosity from Democrat leadership in the Big Apple.

On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that “It has been nearly a quarter century since New York City experienced as much gun violence in the month of June as it has seen this year.”

According to the report, NYC “logged 125 shootings in the first three weeks of the month, more than double the number recorded over the same period last year,” according to police data.

Michael LiPetri, Chief of Crime Control Strategies noted that you’d have to go “back to 1996 to have a worse start of June.”

“Shooting and murders are both climbing steadily upward, but our city leaders have decided that proactive policing isn’t a priority anymore,” noted Patrick Lynch, president of the Police Benevolent Association:

Meanwhile, in cities like Chicago and Minneapolis, also Democrat-run cities, have experienced a massive uptick in gun violence.

Nonetheless, the Minneapolis City Council unanimously passed a resolution to abolish their police department and replace it with a “community-led public safety system.”

The city itself, however, continues to demonstrate what a terrible, terrible idea this is.

In the wealthy Powderhorn Park neighborhood, where virtue-signaling leftists vowed not to call police, a 300-strong tent city has popped up.

I wonder what residents will do if they’re worried about the drug use and dangers of hundreds of people squatting in their neighborhood?

According to the New York Times, they’ve pledged reliance on “a community service organization”.

In Washington D.C., Democrats this week blocked a procedural motion by Republicans to condemn the Defund the Police movement and to condemn “violence and the creation of autonomous zones.”

Let that sink in.
