(Liberty Bell) – Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is no doubt beginning to feel the heat as Republicans, in and out of Congress, are lighting a fire beneath her in the aftermath of yet another failed impeachment of former President Donald Trump and the horrendous riot that took place at the Capitol on January 6.
According to BizPacReview, these members of the GOP want Pelosi to stand up and answer some rather serious questions about security that, ultimately, she is responsible for. And we all know how much liberals loathe being held accountable for the things they are supposed to do. Answering hard questions is something they usually avoid at all costs.
“If we’re serious about holding the people at the top accountable, Pelosi should also have to answer questions about her own leadership,” former Congressman Jason Chaffetz stated in a piece written for Fox News that contains 13 security-related questions that Pelosi absolutely needs to answer.
Chaffetz isn’t the only conservative out there wanting Pelosi to answer these important questions.
Four extremely influential GOP lawmakers who are high-ranking members of their respective committees — Jim Jordan, Devin Nunes, Rodney Davis, and James Comer — penned a letter that was sent to the Speaker that contains many important questions yet to be answered by Pelosi about security precautions that were or probably should have been taken.
Nunes himself referred to Pelosi as “the mayor” of the Capitol, meaning this area is her responsibility.

Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund and House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving both stepped down from their posts after Pelosi applied pressure to them over the riot, a move that did not sit well with these four lawmakers, especially since it seems like nothing more than using these two individuals as scapegoats for her own failure.
“These decisions were made in a partisan manner without any consultation of House Republicans and therefore raise questions about the political motivations of your decisions,” the congressmen wrote.
The first question Chaffetz poses in his Fox News piece is “What was your role in authorizing or denying National Guard support before and after January 6?”
“When then-Chief Sund made a request for National Guard support on January 4th, why was that request denied?” the Republicans said in their letter to the House Speaker. “Did Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving get permission or instruction from your staff on January 4th prior to denying Chief Sund’s request for the National Guard?”

The one hour delay in getting support from the National Guard, according to these lawmakers, is due to Pelosi and her inner circle. They also dispute the claim made by Pelosi that she demanded Chief Sund’s resignation because he failed to keep open the lines of communication with her office. Sund has insisted that he briefed Pelosi on the situation on January 6 twice.
“The GOP group also contends that Pelosi and her staff are obstructing access to documents related to the Capitol riot that are being shared with Democrats. The group, however, praised General Russell Honore, appointed by Pelosi (without consulting Republican leadership) to conduct a security review of the Capitol complex, for reaching out to a few Republicans on a bipartisan basis. Honore coordinated the military relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina,” BizPacReview is reporting.
“In his editorial, ex-U.S. Rep. Chaffetz, among other things, inquired if Pelosi will answer the various questions raised in the GOP letter. He also wants to find out what security changes were put into effect after separate gunmen shot former colleagues Gabby Giffords and Steve Scalise in 2011 and 2017, respectively. In addition, he chided Pelosi for preventing Claudia Tenney’s son from witnessing her swearing in,” the report continues.
At the end of the day, Chaffetz and the lawmakers in Congress are absolutely right to press Pelosi to answer these questions. It’s critical that we have the answers as to who was really responsible for the lax security and the delay in getting the situation handled properly as quickly as possible.
