(Liberty Bell) – This week, Joe Biden claimed to have gone to a historically black college.
He did no such thing.
Is this dude even coherent anymore?
On Saturday, the former Vice President claimed to have gotten his start at an HBCU in spite of…not having gotten his start at an HBCU.
Biden, who has long relied on an inflated version of his own history of working with the civil rights movement, made the claim at a campaign town hall in South Carolina while discussing his education platform.
“I got started out of an HBCU, Delaware State, I don’t want to hear anything negative about Delaware State here, okay,” Biden said. “But all kidding aside, the fact is that HBCUs are in trouble financially.”
What exactly Biden was talking about, no one knows.
Biden didn’t get “started out” at Delaware State University, whatever he meant by “started out,” because he certainly didn’t attend.
He attended the University of Delaware, which, far from being an HBCU, actually had to be desegregated under court order in 1950, despite being founded in 1743. Biden would later go to the Syracuse University School of Law.
Biden has long claimed to have been involved in the civil rights movement, although there does not appear to be a lot of evidence he actually was. I mean, dude doesn’t even know what school he went to, so…
“I never thought coming out of the civil rights movement, that I’d see people walking out in fields, carrying torches,” Biden said in August during a speech at Limestone College in South Carolina in the course of blaming Trump for emboldening white supremacists.
Although Biden took part in a few desegregation protests when he was a teenager, there’s no record that he was part of anything significant during the civil rights movement otherwise.
In fact, after he graduated from law school in 1968, right in the thick of the civil rights movement, there is literally not a scrap of evidence he participated in it at all, let alone as one of its leaders.
Nonetheless, Biden continues to lie about what a civil rights hero he is.
This has come up before, of course, like in 1988 when Biden first ran for the Democrat nomination for president.
Biden repeatedly lied during the course of that campaign, claiming to have “marched” in the civil rights movement.
“When I marched in the Civil Rights movement, I did not march with a 12-point program,” Biden told a group of New Hampshire school children in 1987, according to Breitbart News. “I marched with tens of thousands of others to change attitudes, and we changed attitudes.”
Matt Flegenheimer of the New York Times, however, refuted this claim, writing:
More than once, advisers had gently reminded Mr. Biden of the problem with this formulation: He had not actually marched during the civil rights movement. And more than once, Mr. Biden assured them he understood — and kept telling the story anyway.
Biden’s lies and his plagiarism were so bad, he was forced to drop out of the race before voting even began. He’s apparently hoping enough people have forgotten (or were too young to even remember) that he can just go ahead and start making these claims again.
