(Liberty Bell) – Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has made a pretty big mess of things when it comes to the question of packing the Supreme Court.
It was bad enough he got called out on stage by President Donald Trump during the first presidential debates (certainly not moderator Chris Wallace) for refusing to answer the question.
This week, he’s decided to simply own the fact he won’t answer the question and has said he won’t reveal what he’ll do with the Supreme Court until after the election.
However, that wasn’t all.
Being pressed on this decision by a local reporter in Las Vegas, he let it slip that the voters don’t even “deserve” to know the truth!
So the truth comes out.
When the reporter asked him if the voters didn’t deserve to learn his stance on this hugely important and game-changing issue, Biden spurted out.
“No, they don’t deser–” he replied before catching himself and trailing off.
“This is the number one thing that I’ve been asked about from viewers in the past couple of days,” KTLV anchor Ross DiMattei had asked the candidate at a Las Vegas campaign stop.
“Well, you’ve been asked by viewers who are probably Republicans who don’t want me to continue talking about what they’re doing to the court right now,” Biden fired back.
Let’s dwell on this answer for a moment: how do you think DiMattei’s viewers feel about this answer? Biden has absolutely no way of knowing who these viewers are or what their party affiliation is. There’s a good chance any sensible, unaffiliated voter would want to know what the candidate has to say on this issue, and he just slandered all of them.
Biden has a long history of antagonizing voters who do not back him completely.
Anyway, it got worse from there.
“Sir, don’t the voters deserve to know where you stand…,” DiMattei continued.
This was when Biden cut in and almost said that no, the voters don’t deserve to know his position.
BizPac Review notes:
Biden has accused Trump of using the court packing question to distract from the Republican effort to vote on Amy Coney Barrett as a Supreme Court justice before the election. But liberals in the Democratic party have led the push to pack the court.
Groups like Demand Justice, which was founded by a former press secretary for Hillary Clinton and Sen. Chuck Schumer, began calling for Supreme Court expansion during the Democratic primaries.
Biden asserted that Trump and Republicans have broken new ground by holding a vote on a Supreme Court justice just before the election.
“He’s about to make a pick in the middle of an election. First time it’s ever been done,” Biden claimed.
Trump has defended the decision to vote on Barrett’s confirmation, noting that he has the constitutional authority to nominate a justice during his presidential term.
