(Liberty Bell) – The Democrats have, predictably, been playing politics during a time of severe economic crisis in our country.
As our nation battles the deadly COVID-19 outbreak, Americans are wondering how business will recover as millions have been forced to abandon their jobs and businesses for the sake of practicing social distancing, taking care of their children as schools have closed, and obeying state regulations designed to stop the spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her counterpart in the Senate, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, have been trying to squeeze all kinds of radical, far-left provisions into a spending stimulus bill which needs to be passed so we can get Americans relief, ASAP.
Of all times to be petty!
Thankfully, on Tuesday, Pelosi said she was willing to set aside her Marxist checklist of demands and work to pass the package.
For now, at least.
We can only imagine what she’s going to try next. Never let a good crisis go to waste, right?
Pelosi has said she will try to pass the Senate’s massive $1.8 trillion bill by unanimous consent, meaning Representatives can vote “yes” on the package without appearing on Capitol Hill.
“The easiest way to do it is for us to put aside some of our concerns for another day, and get this done,” Pelosi told CNBC. “If it has poison pills in it, and they know certain things are poison pills, then they don’t want unanimous consent – they just want an ideological statement.”
He did warn, however, that she will call the House back to vote on her impressive list of radical policies if the Senate is unable to come to an agreement on the stimulus package.
On Sunday, the Democrats in the Senate blocked phase 3 of the stimulus package. 60 votes were needed to pass, but every member of the party, as well as the Independents who caucus with them, voted no.
Meanwhile, Pelosi and Schumer had insisted on pushing their demands for things that have absolutely nothing to do with the coronavirus pandemic.
On this list were things like collective bargaining, Green New Deal-style policies, student loan forgiveness, federalizing elections, provisions for immigrants, overreaching mandates on business and much, much more.
