(Liberty Bell) – The team of attorneys representing the family of Ashli Babbitt, the Air Force veteran who was killed by Capitol Hill police during the siege that took place at the Capitol building, have promised that they will continue the legal battle for justice after the Department of Justice, under President Joe Biden refused to prosecute the officer involved.
According to a new report from Infowars, the lawyers’ press release said, “Today the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia announced that it will not pursue criminal charges against the Capitol Police officer who shot Ashli Babbitt in our Nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021.”
The statement then goes on to put the DOJ on blast for the statement they released which the attorneys felt was puzzling.
“Specifically, the investigation revealed no evidence to establish that, at the time the officer fired a single shot Ms. Babbitt [sic], the officer did not reasonably believe that it was necessary to do so in self-defense or in the defense of the Members of Congress and others evacuating the House Chamber,” it read.
Terry Roberts, the family’s personal attorney, responded by saying, “This double-negative is an odd way of explaining the basis for not bringing charges. It painfully glosses over the obvious problem of squaring the decision not to prosecute with the known facts.” Roberts added, “The actual evidence is this: the officer shot an unarmed woman who was not an immediate threat to him or any Member of Congress.”

“That is inconsistent with any claim of self-defense or the defense of others, period.” Roberts went on to say, adding, “To kill Ashli Babbitt in the way it was done demonstrates the requisite degree of willfulness to support a prosecution under the civil rights statute previously referred to.”
“We strongly disagree with the U.S. Attorney’s decision.” Concluding his response, Roberts declared, “We are not dissuaded from our goal of ultimately vindicating Ashli Babbitt’s constitutional rights in the civil arena,” indicating a civil case against the officer responsible for Babbitt’s death or the federal government may lie just down the road.
Roberts also made an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News program. You can check out the interview in the clip below.

At the end of the day, if you review the footage of Babbitt, she had not yet posed a serious threat to the safety of the officer or those the officer says he was trying to protect. Firing his gun seemed a little premature.
If Babbitt hadn’t been white, we all know there would be calls for this officer’s job and demands that he be put in prison for acting too rashly. It’s an inconsistent application of values to not seek justice for someone simply because they aren’t the right skin color.
